PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS
- New aligners may put pressure on your teeth it’s expected to lessen through each sub-phase
- Contact your orthodontist in case of fitting issues.
- A slight lisp may be noticeable for a few days, as your tongue adjusts to the aligners.
- Wash hands thoroughly before handling aligners
- Wear each sub phase for 20-22 hours a day except while brushing and sating
- Wear each sub phase for at least 15-20 days
GUIDELINES FOR ALIGNER INSERTION AND REMOVAL
- Insert the correct aligners for the upper and lower arch, in any order.
- Gently push back the aligners over your front teeth by applying even pressure with your fingertips.
- Apply pressure over the back teeth until the aligners snap into it’s place.
- Once both are in place, gently bite on the aligner Cushions provided, to seat the aligners in position.
- Start from the very back tooth on the inside of your mouth. Flick the tray in a downwards motion. This will release the tray and make it easier to get a hold of it. Do this on both sides of your mouth. Once you have released the tray, you can grab both sides and pull down and forward gently over each tooth.
- Do not pull your aligners off with excessive force. This can tear the aligner or break attachments off your teeth. Gently try to wiggle/rock the trays over difficult or crowded areas.
ALIGNERS CUSHIONS / COTTON ROLLS
- Aligner Cushions are small, cylindrical, soft & spongy cotton/plastic rolls used to close air gaps between the teeth and the aligners.
- Biting on the Aligner Cushions helps fit the aligner onto the teeth.
- Place the Aligner Cushion between your teeth, bite down and move it from one end of your jaw to the other, while champing down on it repeatedly
- Bite on the Aligner Cushions before going to bed to help the aligners stay in place through the night.
- In case of discomfort. consult your orthodontist immediately.
ALIGNERS MAINTENANCE & CARE
- Rinse with water prior to insertion and after removal
- Use a soft toothbrush to clean your aligners.
- Remove your aligners while eating you can keep it as it is while drinking water
- Brush your teeth after each meal before inserting your aligners.
- When not in use, store your aligners in the case provided to prevent damage
- Store the previously used set of aligners in a zip lock In case of loss of the aligner in use, immediately notify your orthodontist and temporary use the stored set
- Wear your aligner while you sleep.
- Drink plenty of water to avoid a dry mouth
- Do not eat with your alignerson.
- Do not chew gum with your aligners on as it may dislodge you aligners.
- Do not smoke with your aligners on as nicotine may cause loss transparency.
- Do not clean aligners with denture cleansers / toothpaste or any other products containing abrasives as they damage texture and result in loss of shine and texture.
- Do not bite on ice with your aligners on, as they may not shield your teeth from pain or sensitivity, resulting in serious damage.
- Keep aligners away from hot, sweet or coloured liquids at all times.
- Keep aligners away from heat, pets and children.
